King County South County Recycling & Transfer Station

The existing Algona Transfer Station serving South King County is aging and not engineered to meet contemporary recycling and transfer station functions. To accommodate increased demand, King County assessed environmental impacts associated with replacing the existing Algona Transfer Station with an expanded facility and issued a final EIS September 2016 (after completing an expanded SEPA checklist). After evaluating several sites, King County selected an 18 acre site adjacent to the existing transfer station in Algona, WA for the new, modern facility.

Ph I Siting: Greenbusch was responsible for analyzing noise emissions from the proposed site(s) and assessing potential noise impacts from the proposed development through a combination of on-site measurements and computer noise modeling. Ph II Design: Advancing the Noise component of the EIS through design, Greenbusch was tasked with conducting noise analysis to ensure that potential noise impacts are within regulatory sound level limits at receiving properties, as defined by the EIS, and provided a Noise Monitoring Plan and Noise Report. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2021 with completion in 2023.
